New Look Jonas on ‘Chains’?

The Jonas Brothers are done – thank goodness! Maybe it is throwing shade, but schmaltz can only go so far, and the Jonas Brothers’ schmaltz was long expired.  Joe Jonas released and unsuccessful pop album (it was actually worthwhile), so his solo career looks like its going nowhere at this point.  However, everyone knows that Nick Jonas…

Music Lists You SHOULD Check Out…Like Totally!

For those expecting a brand-spanking new post, well this isn’t it… well exactly.  Call it a glorified reblog – of sorts… Just read on if you dare!!! As an elite blogger/contributing writer at starpulse.com, I am always composing reviews, lists, and evergreen posts that are featured at some point on the main page of the entertainment site….

The Best Songs of 2014 (Mid-year)?

Recently, at Starpulse.com, I penned a list of entitled 30 Best Songs Of 2014 (So Far).  Choosing only 30 best songs left a number of good/great songs out of the mix as well.  The art of compiling a “best-of” list isn’t easy, particularly if you fear overrating some songs while underrating others.  Throw in the fact that…

Leela James’ Soulful Tour de Force

If you need to be ‘soul-a-fied,’ then  you need to look no further than Leela James‘ new album, Fall For You.  A true proponent of soul, regardless of its popularity or lack thereof,  James ‘stays in her lane’ and owns it.  Strike that –  she’s in full-on ‘beast’ mode. Make sure to check put the reviewed I…

Review: Trey Songz, Trigga (Link)

We know who had the best R&B album of the week.  No it’s not Robin Thicke‘s Paula – it’s Trey ‘Trigga‘ Songz.  After teasing a written review and filming some video commentary , the official Brent Faulkner review for Trigga has arrive – “Applause” please! You can read the analysis of this lustful, salacious, libidinous, sensual, and sexual tour de force exclusively…

Ed Sheeran Comes Up, Trey Songz’s Got Next

As expected, Ed Sheeran had a fantastic sales week for sophomore album X.  The British singer/songwriter ended up selling 210,000 copies.  Compared to the numbers the #1 album the same week from last year moved (Wale‘s The Gifted sold 158,000 copies),  Sheeran outperformed.  Last week, I composed a review for Sheeran’s X at starpulse.com, which you can read here.  Other artists debuting…

Review: Robin Thicke Sounds Desperate On ‘Paula’ – Starpulse.com

Unfortunately for Robin Thicke, his latest album Paula ends up being the train wreck I personally thought it would be.  Boring, blasé, over the top, and old-fashioned (in a bad way), Paula ranks at the bottom of Thicke’s discography.  To read my full thoughts on Thicke’s latest album, check out the link below: Review: Robin Thicke Sounds Desperate On ‘Paula’…

20 Of The Dirtiest Rap Songs – Starpulse.com

Once upon a time, there was this popular Christina Aguilera song called “Dirrty”.  That song has nothing to do with this list of  “20 Of the Dirtiest Rap Songs,” but I was in need of an attention getter.  Don’t judge me!  But really, check out this list of raunchy rap songs that make you shake your head or…

Lana Del Rey Wins, Ed Sheeran on Deck

This week, Lana Del Rey ‘came up’ as Ultraviolence  beat out stiff competition (Sam Smith‘s In the Lonely Hour namely) to bow atop the Billboard 200 Albums Chart.  Del Rey’s dark, pessimistic Ultraviolence is arguably the singer/songwriter’s best work to date, following full-length debut Born to Die and EP Paradise.  Other artists weren’t nearly as successful experiencing  dips in their sales.   You…
