August is out and September is in! My, my, my, where has 2017 gone already? While August and September are two different months, in regards to new music, both begin similarly.  September 1 is by far the quietest release date of the bunch, before things heat up tremendously.  September 8 is one of the most stuffed dates of the year, FYI.  But September 1 is on hand, and the most notable release comes from LCD Soundsystem, who are “reunited, and it feels so good” for new album, American Dream.  What are we saying? American Dream is the album U should buy this week.

LCD Soundsystem, American Dream

Electronic band LCD Soundsystem returns with its first new album in seven years, American Dream. American Dream also represents the band’s first new studio album since disbanding.   It follows up their 2010 album, This is Happening.  Comprised of 10 songs, singles “Tonite,” “Call the Police,” and “American Dream” were issued prior to the release of the album.

From the jump, the groove is irresistible on Tonite.” In your face, there’s no possible way a foot doesn’t tap or a head doesn’t nod.  The production is a selling point, given the array of synths, the beat, and even the vocal production.  Perhaps it’s not the year’s poetic tour de force, the songwriting is captivating, in addition to the bomb production work.  Throw in expressive vocals by James Murphy and “Tonite” feels nocturnally good.  Get it?

Other New Releases

In addition to American Dream, a couple of other releases arrive beginning September 1, 2017.  The titles in boldface were covered in more depth in The Musical Hype article, Music Shopping List | LCD Soundsystem Returns With ‘American Dream’, published on August 28.
