U Should Buy | A$AP Ferg, ‘Still Striving’

A$AP Ferg, Still Striving © RCAA$AP Ferg drops the biggest release of August 18, 2017 with ‘Still Striving.’ Hence, ‘Still Striving’ is the album U should buy this week.

August 2017 has been a quiet month for new music. The biggest release to date comes courtesy of Kesha, who dropped her comeback album, Rainbow, August 11.  Otherwise, things have been low-key.  This week, that low-key sentiment continues.  The most notable release this week comes courtesy of A$AP Ferg, who drops his third studio album, Still Striving.  Hence, Still Striving is the album U should buy this week.

A$AP Ferg, Still Striving

After little more than a year, A$AP Ferg returns with his third album, Still StrivingStill Thriving fittingly follows up his sophomore album, Always Strive and Prosper.  Notably, early indications suggest that Still Striving resembles the sound of his debut album, Trap Lord.  Comprised of 14 songs, singles “Plain Jane,” “Nasty (Who Dat)” featuring Migos, and “East Coast Remix” were released in advance of the album.

“East Coast Remix” hearkens back to what made A$AP Ferg worth checking out. He gets everybody on the track: Busta Rhymes, A$AP Rocky, Dave East, French Montana, Rick Ross, and Snoop Dogg.  The two best verses hail from the veterans – Busta Rhymes and Snoop Dogg.  Ferg isn’t shabby by any means, of course.

While “East Coast Remix” is the crème de la crème of the three singles released ahead of Still Striving, “Plain Jane” is no slouch.  On the verses, he showcases a tight flow.  The hook is fire.

“Ride with the mob / Alhamdulillah / Check in with me and do your job / Ferg is the name / Ben Baller did the chain / 12 for the watch / Presi Plain Jane.”
