3 Must Buys Albums: Whitney, Nick, and Foos

Check out my cover for @flauntmagazine at flaunt.com! Full feature out later this week!

Every week, I pen an article for starpulse.com where I examine ‘albums to check out.’ The column where that post resides is known as ‘this week in music’ (I also include billboard chart analysis there once a week). This week, my submitted post had eight different albums that I expressed to my readers that are worth the time to consider. Even though I keep my list for Starpulse objective as possible, there are always albums that I include that I personally am most excited about. Don’t judge me for ‘fan-guying’ sometimes!

While I was obviously interested in the eight albums I listed, I whittled that list down to three must buys in my eyes. The three must buys in my eyes come courtesy of Whitney Houston, Nick Jonas, and Foo Fighters. Here’s a few short thoughts on each project.

1) Whitney Houston, Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Performances (Legacy)

There will never be another Whitney Houston. That said, hearing and seeing her greatest live performances is truly something to behold. Considering this is touted as her ‘greatest,’ this should be a home run compilation by all means. Check out her powerful live performance of “All The Man I Need” – it’s just so powerful!

2) Nick Jonas, Nick Jonas (Island)

Jonas Brother no more, Nick Jonas does what all teen-pop artists tend to do – grow up. On Nick Jonas, Nick doesn’t hide his urges, as he shouldn’t. He’s a grown man, and grown men desire to do grown man things. But getting back to this album as a must buy, the urban-infused pop is great look for Nick, hence why it makes my list for must buys this week. Oh, and those abs are enough to make most guys jealous they don’t have them!

3) Foo Fighters, Sonic Highways (RCA)

I like to rock out, man! And what better way to rock out than with Dave Grohl and company? Hopefully, Sonic Highways can match the magic of Wasting Light, a truly exceptional album through and through. Even if it’s pretty close, you’ve got to believe that Sonic Highways will be a special album.
