Have You Heard/Spun These 10?

It’s pretty simple – have you heard/spun the 10 following tracks YET? You should check ’em out!

1) Nelly Furtado, “Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)”

(Genre: Pop)

Talk about a double-meaning… just listen to the song or watch the music video…

2) Usher featuring Rick Ross, “Lemme See”

(Genre: R&B)

Ush urges his girl to “be about it…” and “lemme see”… you can guess the point of this steamy, summer jam assisted by none other than the ‘Teflon Don’ himself

3) Justin Bieber, “Die in Your Arms”

(released 5/29/12; Genre: Pop)

18-year old Bieber goes retro-soul for this Rodney Jerkins produced cut that finds Bieber ready to breakout from his tween-confinement… all man now, well sort of…

4) Maroon 5  featuring Wiz Khalifa, “Payphone”

(Genre: Pop)

Well, Adam Levine is “…at a pay phone…” we’ve established. Funny that probably many of us don’t even remember those things… The video is odd for sure, and so is Wiz’s verse… catchy though

5) Carrie Underwood, “Two Black Cadillacs”

(Genre: Country)

Perhaps the best song from Underwood’s newest effort isn’t even a single – it is more true to country-roots and features catchy songwriting: “…and the preacher said he was a good man…but the women in the two black veils, didn’t bother to cry (bye bye, bye bye)…”

6) Rick Ross featuring Usher, “Touch N You”

(Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap)

Wonder what this one is about? Reciprocated collaboration.

7) Nicki Minaj featuring 2 Chainz, “Beez in the Trap”

(Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap)

watch/listen with caution – Minaj “Beez in the trap, b-beez in the trap…” The video is something – now what, we don’t know!!!

8) Lost in the Trees, “Icy River”

 (Genre: Alternative Rock)

The most ‘artsy’ cut on the list, “Icy River” is a part of Lost in the Tree’s album remembering front man Ari Picker’s mother, who committed suicide. “Icy River” details committing the frontman’s to the river in dramatic and poetic fashion. It is chilling, yet beautiful.

9) Skrillex featuring Sirah, “Kyoto”

(Genre: Electronic/DJ)

“…Yo Skrill drop it hard!” The famous ‘bass drop’ that characterizes electronic music these days of course…

10) Alabama Shakes, “Hold On”

(Genre: Alternative Rock)

Good ole eclectic southern band that is bluesy and soulful. You should check them out for sure.
